Construction crews are working hard to pave the way for new infrastructure in Scottsbluff.

A new stretch of 28th Street will be opening up a new area for development just west of Avenue I.

Public Works Director Mark Bohl says the concept for the project came up when the nearby Shaggy Buffalo car wash opened.

He tells KNEB News the new street will open up more commercial development space for the city and allow access to that property for future businesses.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of April and has remained on schedule.

The last time a new street was created in a commercial district was eight years ago when the Fairfield Inn opened by the college.
