Nebraska sees increase in layers, egg production

Nebraska’s number of chicken layers saw a notable increase in June 2024, totaling 8.50 million.

This marks a rise from 8.03 million in June of the previous year, as reported by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Egg production in Nebraska also experienced growth, with a total of 209 million eggs produced in June 2024, compared to 200 million in June 2023.

Despite this overall increase, the egg production per 100 layers slightly decreased, with an average of 2,461 eggs per 100 layers in June 2024, down from 2,492 eggs per 100 layers the previous year.
