You can add Ogallala to potential locations for a new horse track and casino in Nebraska.

According to a news release from Elite Casino Resorts, LMRC, a local non-profit corporation, has partnered with Elite, Kehl Management and Fonner Park in seeking local support for the project, which would be named Lake Mac Casino Resort and Racetrack if approved by state regulators.

The $100 million complex would include a racetrack with grandstand, large casino with show lounge, 120-room hotel with a 10,000 square foot convention and event center, RV parking and a large truck stop.

The project would allow local ownership of up to 20 percent, with priority investment for Ogallala and Keith County residents.

Elected officials for both the city and county voiced support of the plan during meetings this week.

As with proposals for new tracks and casinos for Gering and Kimball, the latest proposition would be subject to the findings of economic and social impact studies to determine eligible sites for new tracks, which must be completed by Jan. 1, 2025.
