Harrisburg- After finishing last year with a record of 1-7 and only five players, the Banner County Wildcats enter this fall ready to continue the revitalization of Banner County football.

After not fielding an independent team for a two year span from 2017-2018, the Wildcats enter their fifth year back on gridiron.

For second-year head coach Tod Wenger, his team’s numbers are up even after graduating four seniors last year. A balanced mix of four freshman, one junior and four seniors provides the opportunity for the upperclassmen to help teach the younger players the ways of the game.

Returning contributors for the Wildcats are junior Micah Dittbenner alongside seniors Tobey May, Brensten McGowen, Isaac Olsen and Kristian Klure.

They’ll compete in the D6-5 district alongside Creek Valley, Garden County, Leyton, Potter-Dix and South Platte.

Banner County will open their season at 2 p.m. at home against Sioux County on Friday, August 30.
