The Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska is kicking off its 26th year of raising money for cancer research today.
The Ball will be held on June 7 and 8 in Scotts Bluff County hosted by Scott and Kristin Schiff on their ranch. A special feature of the event is that it’s held in a different location each year, giving Nebraska communities the opportunity to showcase their unique area of the state.
Scott and Kristin Schiff have lived in western Nebraska for 15 years farming and ranching with their 6 children.
“The goal of the cattlemen’s ball is to raise money for cancer research as well as showcase beef and a healthy diet,” Kristin Schiff said.
The event features a 5K on Saturday morning followed by a style show later in the day starring cancer survivors who will be sharing their stories.
Each year also has numerous auctions, meals and entertainment options. Collin Raye is headlining this year’s Ball.
The Cattlemen’s Ball has raised more than $19 million to fund cancer research since its first event in 1998. The Buffett Research Center in Omaha receives 90% of funds raised while 10% infuses local health and wellness initiatives.
