A tragic farming accident in Sheridan County has claimed the life of a five-year-old boy.
Chadron radio station KCSR says the accident occurred Friday south of Hay Springs when the child drove an ATV in front of a tractor that was being operated by a family member. The tractor hit the ATV, and the boy was taken to Chadron Community Hospital, but was pronounced dead after arriving there.
Sheridan County Attorney Jamian Simmons says the incident remains under investigation but criminal charges are not anticipated at this time.
