BAYARD- Following a 3-5 season a year ago that saw the Bayard Tigers fall in back-to-back two-point games in weeks six and seven, the Tigers enter 2024 optimistic about a young roster and a new classification.

Bayard opens the fall with a roster of 16 players, losing four seniors from last year’s team. While the numbers may be a bit low, with just enough to get quality team reps at practice, the Tigers are optimistic about the makeup of the class. Bayard has no seniors on their roster, which is where the excitement comes from for the Bayard coaching staff. They hope the young group will be able to learn a ton over the course of this season and apply their knowledge week-to-week and into next season.

The Tigers are also down a classification as well, dropping to class D2 after playing their first six seasons of eight-man football in class D1. The new class puts Bayard in a district alongside Brady, Hyannis, Maxwell, Mullen and defending state champion Sandhills/Thedford.

The Bayard Tiger’s quest in a new class begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 30 against the Morrill Lions at home. You can catch that game beginning with pregame at 6:45 p.m. on 94.1 The Brand.
