Richard Lee Loyd was born May 4, 1945 to Everett and Dora (Mathis) Loyd in Alliance, Nebraska. He graduated from Minatare High School. He entered the Army as a construction Builder (CB) during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Army and started working in construction for over 30 years. Later, he worked for Pathfinder Irrigation district as a Ditch rider for several years. He was also on the Minatare City Council and Mayor of Minatare from 1987 to 1991.

Richard passed away at his home in Scottsbluff on October 28th, 2023, at the age of 78.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Ruth Mathis: parents, Everett and Dora Loyd; his sons, Randy Loyd and Kevin Stratton; sister and husband, Mary (Loyd) and Kenny Eck, Kary (Loyd) Wayne Nolte; brother, Marvin Loyd; and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Loyd; children, Sheri Stratton of Colorado, Diane and

Steve Renker of Lincoln, Tammy Stratton of Scottsbluff, Robin and Richard Bessert of Aniwa,

Wi, Chuck and Bobbie Stratton of Mitchell, Judy Loyd of Gering, Gary Reno of New Mexico, Leslie and Marilyn Reno of Scottsbluff, Lois Jean Petty of Oshkosh, Phillip and Linda Henkel of Bayard, Jim and Linda Reno of Oklahoma, Vicki Reno of North Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Richard enjoyed playing Santa during the holidays and we will all miss his cooking especially the prime rib and his chili.

We will be having a celebration of life services Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10:00 am at East Lawn Cemetery with military honors. Fond memories and messages of sympathy may be left for the Loyd family at www.dugankramer.com
