Joseph “Joe” Frank Yenter, 88, of Mitchell, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Scottsbluff. His Memorial Mass will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mitchell with Father Mike McDonald as Celebrant. The service will be live streamed to the funeral’s home Facebook page for those not able to attend. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30am prior to the service. Private family inurnment will take place at Mitchell City Cemetery. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Joe’s honor be made in care of the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home, 1102 West 42nd Street, Scottsbluff, NE 69361. He was born on June 20, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Joseph and Eva Yenter. He spent his childhood and was educated in Milwaukee. He served in the United States Navy for four years from 1955 to 1959. He then met and married Doris Hromadka on June 10, 1961, and moved to Mitchell Nebraska in December of 1977. They owned and operated the Bowl Arena in Terrytown for many years until their retirement in 1994. During his retirement he enjoyed making wood crafts, attending craft shows and many trips to Prairie Winds casino. After Doris’s passing in 1997, he then met Norma Gallant and they spent twenty years together before her passing in June of 2020.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Gary and Gabrielle Paschke of Altoona, IA, and son Joseph Paschke of Bridgeport, NE, daughter Linda Milella of Elkhorn, WI, daughters and sons-in-law, Cindi and Brian Taylor of Mitchell, NE and Kim and Ed Wehling of Broken Bow, NE, son-in-law Edward Bantz of Wagram, NC, sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Lee Armstrong of Wisconsin, sister Mary Beth Percy of Virginia, brother-in-law Ed DeLonge of Wisconsin, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, daughter Gayle Bantz, son-in-law Joseph Milella, daughter-in-law Jenna Paschke, two brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and his special friend, Norma.
