Doris Maxine Novotny, 84, of Minatare, passed away on March 11th, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Broken Spoke in Minatare on Saturday, April 27th, at 1 pm. She was born in Bayard NE on January 11th, 1940, to Richard & Mildred (Butler) Walker. Doris grew up in the Sandhills of Nebraska, graduating from Hyannis High School in 1957. During this time, she met the love of her life, Dean Novotny.
Dean & Doris married on April 8th, 1959. To this union, four daughters were born: Deanna, Dawn, Denise, & Darla. In 1988, her family was completed by the birth of Travis; her grandson/bonus son.
Doris was a wonderful wife, mom, & woman; bringing laughter & light wherever she went. Her smile was infectious, her laughter contagious. Her dedication to her family, her love of all things’ nature, & her sarcastic wit will be forever missed.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dean Novotny, daughter Darla (John) Grumbles, grandson/bonus son Travis (Angie Judge) Novotny, great granddaughter Everly, & several cousins, nieces, & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Vernon, sisters Dorothy, Lila, & Connie, & daughters Deanna, Dawn, & Denise.
