Wayne State College will play six home games and host a spring scrimmage vs. Chadron State April 20th as the 2024 Wildcat football schedule was released today by head football coach Logan Masters and athletic director Mike Powicki.

Wayne State will host Chadron State in a joint practice at Cunningham Field in Wayne on Saturday, April 20th at 1 p.m.  The event will consist of one-on-one drills, skill competitions and situational team scenarios.

“We’re excited to compete against Chadron State to wrap up spring practice,” remarked Coach Masters.  “It gives our team, especially our young players, a chance to prepare for an opponent like in the fall.”

In the spring of 2021, Wayne State hosted Nebraska-Kearney in a controlled scrimmage and traveled to Chadron State for a controlled scrimmage to close out 2021 spring drills.

The Wildcats open the 2024 schedule at home on Thursday evening, August 27th hosting Missouri S&T in a week zero contest at 6 p.m.  Playing a week zero game then gives Wayne State a bye the final week of September (September 28th) this season.

Other home games for the Wildcats are Saturday, September 14th vs. Minnesota State at 6 p.m., Minot State for homecoming October 5th at 1 p.m., Sioux Falls October 26th at 12 p.m., Northern State November 9th at 12 p.m. and the season-finale hosting Concordia-St. Paul in the Egg Bowl Game on November 16th at 12 p.m.

Wayne State has five NSIC road games this season, starting September 7th at MSU Moorhead (TBA).  The Wildcats also visit Winona State on September 21st at 1 p.m., Southwest Minnesota State October 12th at 5 p.m., at University of Mary on October 19th (TBA) and at Bemidji State November 2nd (TBA).

Wayne State finished the 2023 season with a record of 8-3 overall and finished fifth place in the NSIC with a 7-3 league mark.
