West Point Juniors Bested by Central City at State

West Point experience its first loss at the Class B Junior Legion State Tournament in Valley on Monday night, falling 7-3 to undefeated Central City in action aired on 107.9 The Bull.

Central City took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

West Point looked to have things going in their favor in the top of the third, hitting three singles in a row to load the bases with no outs. But then the Central City defense turned a ground ball into a triple play. West Point was able to get one run for their efforts, and now trailed 3-1.

Central City added one run in the fourth and five runs in the fifth, now leading 7-2.

West Point scored two runs in the top of the seventh before the game ended with Central City winning 7-3.

Four pitchers combined in the loss for West Point.

Despite only scoring three runs, West Point recorded nine hits on the night.

Isaac Guenther led the way with two singles and a double. Luke Guenther had a base hit and an RBI. Mav Smith hit a double. Henry Wooldrik, Mason Toelle, Buck Steffen and Bryce Popken each had a single.

West Point now falls to the elimination bracket and will meet Lincoln Christian in the semifinals on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00.

The game will be on 107.9 The Bull.
