Overview:

The West Point-Beemer Football Team is under new leadership as Jacob Ellis takes over the program for Zac Kliment.

The Savannah, Missouri native played his College Football at Midland, and has been at West Point-Beemer since 2019.

The Cadets return over half their starters from last year, but lost Noah Ernesti to a season-ending injury.

The returners include Ethan Dale (5’11, 210 Sr OL/DE), Grayson Meyer (6’2, 220 Sr TE/LB), Bennett Meyer (6’0, 150 Sr S), Keaton Pearson (5’9, 145 Sr RB/CB), Jamison Evert (6’0, 155 Sr WR/CB), Treven Weddle (6’0, 160 Jr RB/LB), Juan Lemus (5’11, 165 Jr LB/RB), and Colton Haber (6’0, 220 Jr OL/DL).

Coach Ellis says Weddle is a stud. “Treven is a returning starter on both sides of the ball. He made a lot of plays for us defensively and was one of our leading rushers last year as a Sophomore.”

Coach Ellis said Conner Troyer is a newcomer who could make an impact for the team this season as he could very well find himself starting at Quarterback.

West Point-Beemer said goodbye to Chase Sherwood, Riley Penrose, Keegan Doggett, Hayden Hunke, Cooper Colson, Cody Hittle, Jason Hagedorn, Miguel Perez, and Anthony Harrington last year.

Coach Ellis discusses this past offseason.

I feel like the Cadets have the potential to do well this year, but the loss of Ernesti is a big blow there’s no doubt about that.

But it simply means other kids will have to step up and play bigger roles than they originally thought they would.

Season Outlook:

West Point-Beemer looks to do well this year. Coach Ellis says the team is looking to improve every week and develop young men.

Bob Jensen from the Huskerland Prep Report weighs in on this year’s team.

The Cadets are in District C1-4 with Pierce, Boone Central, O’Neill, and Wayne. Coach Ellis says his team anticipates those games.

West Point-Beemer opens up the season at DC West on Friday. Coach Ellis shares his thoughts on the matchup.

Coach Ellis says the team’s motto is love, respect, and hard work.

And honestly I think you can say that this team will work hard for each other and themselves this season, and play with lots of pride, fire, toughness, tenacity, passion, and grit, and will hustle.
