Wayne State’s Jordan Janssen named NSIC South Division Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Wayne, Neb. — Jordan Janssen of Wayne State College was announced Monday morning as the Northern Sun Conference Men’s Basketball South Division Player of the Week by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota following his play in two Wildcat wins last week over York College and Nebraska-Kearney.

Janssen, a 6-7 senior forward from Lincoln (East HS), averaged 23.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game last week while shooting 57 percent (16-28) from the field and 78.9 percent (15-19) at the free throw line.  He recorded 22 points with nine rebounds and four assists in last Monday’s 76-68 win over York College and added a game-high 25 points with nine rebounds and five assists in Saturday’s 77-67 win at UNK that included 13-17 from the free throw line.

Through four games this season, Janssen is averaging 22.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game shooting 50.8 percent (33-65) from the field and 75.9 percent (22-29) at the free throw stripe.

Wayne State, 3-1 on the season, opens Northern Sun Conference play on the road Tuesday evening at #18 Augustana Tuesday evening in a 5:30 p.m. contest at the Sanford Pentagon.
