OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men’s basketball team announced its full 2024-25 schedule today, featuring a pair of Power 5 matchups with Minnesota and Iowa State on the road.

“I’m so excited about the upcoming schedule,” remarked Head Coach Chris Crutchfield. “We were able to mix in a few quality home games and definitely a few quality P5 opponents.”

The season officially begins at home on November 4 against Mid-America Christian, before the team hits the road for seven-straight road games, beginning with 2023-24 ASUN Tournament Champion Stetson (Nov. 7) and 2023-24 NIT participant Minnesota (Nov. 9) to cap off the first week, followed by NIT quarterfinalist UNLV (Nov. 16) and Southern Utah (Nov. 16) in week two.

Closing out the road trip is a three-game tournament hosted by 2023-24 MAC Tournament Champion Akron from November 22-24, featuring games against them, Lamar, and Alabama State.

The Mavericks return home to close out the first month of competition vs. Abilene Christian on November 30. December begins with reigning Big Sky Tournament Champion Montana State coming to town on the fourth.

Then, Omaha is back on the road for three, first taking on Sacramento State on the seventh, followed by a pair of games in Iowa against Northern Iowa (Dec. 13) and Iowa State (Dec. 15), the latter being the current Big 12 Conference Champion and coming of a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Omaha closes out the non-conference schedule and finishes the month of December at home when the Mavericks host Cal Poly on the 21st and Mount Mary on the 28th.

The Mavericks open Summit League play on January 2 at North Dakota in a rematch of last year’s quarterfinals match of the conference tournament in which Omaha won 73-72 at the buzzer. They follow this up at North Dakota State two days later.

The home conference slate begins the following week with Kansas City on the eighth and reigning conference Regular Season and Tournament Champion South Dakota State on the 11th. The next week features only a single game at Denver on January 15, before Omaha splits the following week at home and on the road vs. St. Thomas (Jan. 23) and at Oral Roberts (Jan. 25).

Omaha closes out the month and the first half of conference play at South Dakota on January 29, before opening February at home vs. Denver (Feb. 1). From there the Mavericks have a pair of home games against North Dakota (Feb. 6) and NDSU (Feb. 8) and three-straight road bouts at SDSU (Feb. 13), St. Thomas (Feb. 15), and Kansas City (Feb. 19).

The regular season ends at home as the Mavericks host South Dakota on February 22 and Oral Roberts on March 1. Then it is on to the Summit League Tournament which runs from March 7-11 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

In total, the Mavericks will play seven teams that made the NCAA and NIT Tournaments last year, including five reigning conference tournament champions.

“We have a tough road slate in November including the MTE, which I think will benefit us in conference play,” added Crutchfield. “Overall I think it’s a pretty competitive schedule with several like opponents hopefully our fans and alumni will be excited about.”
