Two Semi’s Collide on Hwy 275 East of Norfolk Causes Havoc for Traffic in Both Directions
September 25th, 2024 | Stanton County Sheriff's Office

Just after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a traffic accident involving two semi’s near 562nd Avenue and Hwy 275, which is about four miles east of Norfolk. The collision occurred when a semi pulling a grain trailer turned onto Hwy 275 from 562nd Avenue into the path of a westbound bobtail semi. That semi struck the left rear end of the grain trailer, and it then careened across the median through the eastbound traffic before coming to rest after striking a dirt embankment in the south ditch. The impact left a field of debris across the roadway that caused havoc for traffic for about two hours as the scene closed a portion of Hwy 275. Miraculously neither driver was injured and the westbound bobtail semi suffered severe damage and is a total loss. The Department of Transportation and Stanton County Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
