The Tri County Northeast Football Team won their first game of the season Friday night, downing Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 36-16 on the road.

Jeff’s Game Recap:

The Wolfpack led 8-0 after the 1st quarter and 16-8 at halftime. The Bears blanked Tri County Northeast 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to tie the game at 16 heading into the 4th quarter. The Wolfpack outscored the Bears 20-0 in the 4th quarter. Brayden McCorkindale had 105 yards rushing on 27 carries and a score while Ben Jorgensen was 4-8 passing for 102 yards and a TD. Bryan Isom ran the ball 10 times for 64 yards and scored once. Isom made 16 tackles while Dylan Boyle notched 8. Tri County Northeast had 298 yards of total offense, 196 coming on the ground, while the defense gave up 228 yards of total offense, including 147 rushing. Head Coach Jake Kneifl says it was an all-around great performance. “This was a tough fought game that stayed close for a majority of the game. Our boys played hard for all four quarters and were able to pull away in the fourth. Defensively we did a great job limiting the explosive plays and putting their offense in tough positions. Offensively things started to click better this week.”

Jeff’s Pender Preview:

Tri County Northeast (1-2) hosts Pender (2-1) Friday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull. The Pendragons won 34-8 at home over Clarkson/Leigh last week. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in Allen with pregame at 6:30 on the Bull.

Jeff’s Take on the Contest:

This should be a great game between these two teams. I think the game will come down to the 4th quarter. I think both teams have what it takes to win the game, especially given the way both played on both sides of the ball last week. Both teams are very good and this is going to be a really interesting and intriguing game. It figures to be a great battle between these two that comes down to the wire. I definitely feel like this game could be decided by one big play or one big mistake late in the game.
