Overview:
A new Football Co-Op has been born in Northeast Nebraska as Allen and Emerson-Hubbard have officially combined to make up what is known as the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack.
The Head Coach of the team is Evan Colfack.

Coach Colfack says the transition from Emerson-Hubbard and Allen to the Co-op has gone well. “The Tri County Northeast football team will be starting their first season together as a co-op between Allen Consolidated Schools and Emerson-Hubbard. This athletics co-op has been in effect for the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 seasons with volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Unfortunately, by the time this co-op was voted into place, the two-year football schedules had been set. So, while these athletes have gotten to be teammates in other seasons, football season they remained opponents.”
“I have had the opportunity to coach most of these boys in Junior High football. The freshman and sophomores on this team were a part of the Junior High Tri-County Northeast football team. There is plenty of comradery on this football team already and will only grow over the summer and into the Fall. We are going to be a very young football team and learning under a new coaching staff is always a difficult transition, but they have responded well to the change and are eager to get to work.”
I think it might take a year or two for this Co-op to really take off, but once it does I look for the Wolfpack to be an area power for a long time.
Season Outlook:
Tri County Northeast plays their first ever game on Friday at Lyons-Decatur Northeast. The Cougars just split from a Co-op with Bancroft-Rosalie known as BRLD. Coach Colfack discusses the dynamic of playing LDNE.
The Wolfpack is in District D1-5 with Crofton, Hartington/Newcastle, Homer, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, and Wakefield. Coach Colfack says the District is not easy.
I think going up against teams like these and playing tough, hard nosed, physical Football is only going to make these kids stronger and better in the future.
Tri County Northeast may or may not see instant results, but I think in time and in the long run the Wolfpack will be a very good and successful program regardless.
