Teen Missing After Wading into Platte River Near Fremont

On Sunday, June 30 at 9:00 p.m. the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a 17-year-old male that had gone missing after wading into the Platte River south of Fremont. Deputies responded to the area where the male was last seen, which was west of the Highway 77 bridge.

Multiple resources were coordinated for a water rescue, including Waterloo Water Rescue, Valley Water Rescue, Fremont Fire Department Dive Team, Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Game and Parks, Omaha Police ABLE-1 helicopter, Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, Fremont Rural Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Dodge County drone team. Law Enforcement air boats, boats and drones were launched on the river within 15 minutes of the initial call.

The Omaha Police ABLE-1 helicopter, multiple drones and boats searched the area for the missing male. At approximately 11:45 p.m. it was determined by officials that the search would cease for the night without locating the male party. The search resumed early Monday morning.
