The Stanton Volleyball Team won 2-0 over Doniphan-Trumbull and O’Neill before losing 2-0 to Columbus Lakeview at the Boone Central Invite on Saturday.

The Mustangs lost to the Viqueens via forfeit.

Jeff’s Doniphan-Trumbull Recap:

The Mustangs beat the Cardinals 25-9 in set one and 25-14 in set two. Olivia Hupp had 9 kills and 8 digs while Skyler Siebrandt totaled 8 kills. Bergan Pohlman added 9 digs while Kelby Pohlman dished out 21 set assists.

Jeff’s O’Neill Recap:

Stanton won 25-14 and 25-17 over the Eagles. Siebrandt had 8 kills while Hupp totaled 7 kills and 12 digs. Rylan Hansen added 11 digs while Kelby Pohlman registered 23 set assists.

Jeff’s Stanton Triangular Preview:

Stanton (5-3) hosts Norfolk Catholic (8-2) and Boone Central (6-5) in a Triangular Thursday night. The Knights won 2-1 over Hartington Cedar Catholic and 2-0 over Elgin Public/Pope John at the Cedar Catholic Triangular Tuesday night while the Cardinals fell 3-1 at home to Crofton Tuesday night.

Jeff’s Take on the Matches:

This is going to be a really difficult Triangular for the Mustangs. Boone Central has lost four in a row so Stanton might get them, but Norfolk Catholic is at another level compared to these two. Not that the Mustangs can’t and won’t upset the Knights, but Norfolk Catholic is a very sound team and will be tough to contend with and beat. But that’s why they play the games.
