Six Bruins earn OWH all-Nebraska, three collect honorable mention

OMAHA, Neb. — Six Bellevue University baseball student-athletes have been named to the Omaha World-Herald all-Nebraska team with three more earning honorable mention accolades.

Senior LHP Blake Crippen (Hillsboro, Ore.), junior RHP Teron Williams (Belton, Mo.), junior C Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alberta), senior 1B Alec Ackerman (Parker, Colo.), sophomore SS Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ontario), and junior UT Steven Elsner (San Francisco, Calif.) were each honored by the publication as all-Nebraska.

Crippen earned NSAA Pitcher of the Year, NSAA Gold Glove (P) and first team all-NSAA honors this season. He wrapped up his career with a 28-7 record as BU’s all-time wins leader. This season he pitched to a 7-1 record with a 3.14 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 38 strikeouts in 57.1 innings.

Williams was the conference’s only relief pitcher honored as a first team all-NSAA selection. He pitched to a 3-0 record and recorded a pair of saves to go along with a 0.56 ERA, 0.56 WHIP and 15 strikeouts in 16 innings of work.

Grant had alreadby been named a second team All-America, BU Male Athlete of the Year, NSAA Player of the Year, NSAA Gold Glove (C) winner, and first team all-NSAA. He his .346 and a 1.148 OPS while leading the team with 20 home runs, 66 RBI, 16 doubles, and 37 extra-base hits.

Ackerman was a first team all-NSAA selection this season. He hit a team-high .409 to go along with an 1.185 OPS, eight home runs, 42 RBI, 32 runs scored, and 32 extra-base hits.

Luther was a CSC Academic All-District selection, Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete, NSAA Gold Glove winner (SS), and a first team all-NSAA selection. He hit .381 with a 1.066 OPS, 20 extra-base hits, nine home runs, 40 RBI, and 36 runs scored.

Elsner was a CSC Academic All-District selection, NSAA Newcomer of the Year, and first team all-NSAA selection. He hit .357 with a team-best 1.199 OPS and .784 slugging percentage. He totaled 34 extra-base hits, 19 home runs, 62 RBI, and scored 45 runs.

Earning honorable mention recognition were junior OF Jake Lacey (Gillette, Wyo.), sophomore OF Anthony Lind (Omaha, Neb.), and senior RHP Dustin Schorie (Chandler, Ariz.).

Lacey was named a first team all-NSAA selection for the second-straight year. He hit .383 with an 1.120 OPS, 28 extra-base hits, 13 doubles, 12 home runs, and 55 RBI. He led the team in both hits (77) and runs scored (68) while adding seven stolen bases.

Lind was a CSC Academic All-District selections, Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete, NSAA Gold Glove winner (RF), and first team all-NSAA selection. He his .350 with a 1.014 OPS, 18 extra-base hits, nine home runs, 29 RBI, scored 44 runs, and led the team with 21 stolen bases in 24 attempts.

Schorie was a CSC Academic All-District selections, Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and second team all-NSAA selection. He pitched to a 7-2 record with a 3.39 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 70 strikesouts across 85 innings. His four complete games and three shutouts both led the team.

Bellevue finished the 2024 season with a 39-14 overall record, going 21-2 in NSAA play to capture both the regular season and tournament titles. The Bruins, who spent the entire season ranked inside the top 20 in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll, made their 26th appearance in the NAIA National Tournament when they played in the Opening Round – Williamsburg Bracket.
