Northeast drops Softball Doubleheader to Iowa Central

FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team was in Fort Dodge, Iowa Wednesday for a doubleheader with Iowa Central Community College. The Hawks fell in both contests by final scores of 22-1 and 9-4.

Northeast (3-24, 0-12 ICCAC) improved at the plate during the afternoon as Lauren Marker (Kearney, Neb.) led the way with three RBIs in the two games. Talia Bandt (Grand Island, Neb.) tallied a triple and two hits in Game 2 as the Hawks will now travel for a pair of doubleheaders in Iowa this weekend.

Head Softball Coach Erin Shape on the day in Iowa:

“We came back with a better mindset the second game,” Sharpe said. “Between games we talked about focusing on the small wins and positive things. We changed our mindset to a next pitch approach, and it helped.”

Sharpe on facing teams for the second time in conference play this weekend:

“We know what to expect and how our girls react to certain situations,” Sharpe said. “We will prepare for specific pitchers and walk through scenarios that have beat us before.”

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will hit the road again this weekend and will take on RV North Iowa Area Community College in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mason City, Iowa.
