MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team wrapped up their three-game series with Marshalltown Community College Saturday in Marshalltown, Iowa. The Hawks swept both showdowns by final scores of 7-5 and 5-3.
Northeast (24-14, 11-4 ICCAC) and the Tigers took nine innings to finish the contest originally scheduled for seven frames in Game 1 through windy conditions. Aidan Brainard (Littleton, Colo.) tossed five innings in his start and did not allow an earned run. Carter Noakes (Dannebrog, Neb.) launched a homer, recorded a double and scored the go-ahead run in the ninth inning when he drew a walk to score Jack Borgmann (Norfolk, Neb.).
Borgmann hit a home run in the fifth inning of Game 2 and the pitching for the Hawks was solid again to secure a Northeast sweep of Marshalltown. Braden Cork (Omaha, Neb.) came out of the bullpen and locked the matchup down as he pitched 2.1 innings and did not allow a single hit. The victory marked the sixth time that the Hawks have won a series this season.
