Fremont, Nebraska – Dylan Brandenburg’s first home run of the season came at the right time. Tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth, the Fremont third baseman from Skyline College led off the inning by hitting a 2-1 pitch off Nebraska Prospects reliever Josh Kilzer over the “Moller Monster” to give The Fremont Moo a 3-2 victory. 

After a scoreless first inning, The Prospects cracked the scoreboard in the top of the second. Against Fremont starter Logan Anderson, The Prospects Jackson Trout led off the inning with a walk. Two batters later, Luke Bies executed a perfect hit-and-run, to put runners at first and third. Anderson struck out J.D. DiPrima, swinging, on a 2-2 pitch. On the play, Bies stole second, and on the throw from catcher Bridger Coleman, Trout scored, to make it a 1-0 Prospects lead.

Fremont manufactured a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, to take its first lead of the night. Versus starter Carson Obrecht, Fremont’s Dean Reynolds was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. A wild pitch advanced Reynolds to second and an errant throw by Korey Cozad, pushed Reynolds to third base. Josh Blount drew a walk to put runners at the corners. Then, Carter Sintek hit an rbi single, scoring Reynolds, to tie the score at 1-1. The next batter, Tyrus Petsche, grounded into a double play, however, Blount scored, to put Fremont up 2-1.

The Prospects tied the game in the top of the sixth inning. With one out, Jacob Perrin singled, then stole second. Two batters later, Korey Cozad drew a walk, then, Gage Allen was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Fremont went to the bullpen and brought in Luka Vukcevic to pitch. Against the first batter he faced, Vukcevic hit Trent Barry with a pitch, to bring home Perrin, and tie the game at 2-2.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the ninth. Facing reliever Josh Kilzer, Dylan Brandenburg hit a 2-1 pitch over the left field fence, for a walk-off home run, giving Fremont the 3-2 win.

Fremont (24-14, 11-3) scored three runs off seven hits and committed one error. The Prospects (5-19, 0-9) had two runs off five hits and one error.

Moo starter Logan Anderson pitched 5.2 innings, giving up two runs off five hits, struck out twelve, walked two, had one wild pitch and hit one batter. Luka Vukcevic pitched 2.1 innings, walking one and hitting one batter. Alex Oliver (2-1) got the win. He pitched 1.0 inning and struck out one.

Prospects starter Carson Obrecht pitched 5.0 innings, giving up one earned run off three hits, struck out three, walked two, had two wild pitches and hit three batters. Josh Kilzer (0-2) took the loss. He pitched 3.0 innings, giving up one run off four hits, struck out five, walked one, but gave up the walk-off home run to Brandenburg.

Offensively for Fremont, Carter Sintek was 1-for-3 with an rbi. Tyrus Petsche was 0-for-3 and drove in one run. Dylan Brandenburg was 1-for-3 with the solo walk-off home run.

For The Prospects, Trent Barry was 1-for-3 with an rbi.

The two teams will play the fourth game of the five game series, Saturday night at Historic Moller Field, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
