Fremont, Nebraska – Just like Monday night, the Fremont Moo performed well on the mound Tuesday night and completed a two-game sweep of the Casper Spuds in ILB action, 3-2, at Historic Moller Field. Left-handed starter Ryan O’Malley, from Creighton University, struck out seven over seven innings, leading Fremont to the victory.

After getting shut out by Fremont Monday night, Casper started the scoring Tuesday in the top of the first inning. Leadoff batter Elijah Reeves popped up to the back of the mound and Moo second baseman Isaac Bonner dropped the ball, allowing Reeves to reach first. Two batters later, Rafael Jackson hit an rbi double down the right field line, scoring Reeves, to put Casper ahead, 1-0.

Fremont responded in the bottom of the first. Facing Spuds starter Jackson Strohmeyer, Fremont leadoff batter Josh Blount drew a walk and Stephen Espinoza did the same. The next batter, Cooper Fuchino, hit an rbi single to center, scoring Blount, to tie the game at 1-1. Bridger Coleman followed with a two-rbi single, plating Espinoza and Fuchino, and Fremont took a 3-1 lead.

Casper cut the Fremont lead in half in the top of the fourth. With one out, Wesley Flatt singled, then stole second base. Two batters later, Kody Clausius hit an rbi single, to score Flatt, making the score, 3-2.

Robert O’Malley kept Casper off the board for the remainder of his start, which concluded by inducing a ground ball out with a runner in scoring position in the top of the seventh. Hayden Kelberlau came on to pitch for Fremont in the top of the eighth and retired the Spuds in order. After the Moo were held scoreless in the bottom of the inning, Kelberlau returned in the ninth and set down the Spuds in order for his second save of the season, giving Fremont the 3-2 win.

Fremont (9-5) scored three runs off seven hits and committed two errors. Casper (10-4) had two runs off five hits with no errors.

Moo starter Robert O’Malley (2-0) earned the win. The Omaha native at Creighton University pitched 7.0 innings, giving up one earned run off five hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. Hayden Kelberlau, an Omaha native at Augustana University, pitched 2.0 innings and struck out three.

Casper starter Jackson Strohmeyer (0-1) took the loss. He pitched 2.0 innings giving up three earned runs off five hits, struck out one and walked three, plus hit one batter. Brenan Daniel pitched 3.2 innings of relief. He struck out four and walked two. Chris Bedgood worked 2.1 innings, giving up two hits, striking out three and walking one.

Offensively for Fremont, Cooper Fuchino, the Rolling Hills Estate, California native at Creighton University, was 2-for-4 with an rbi. Bridger Coleman, a Lompoc, California native at Allan Hancock College, was 1-for-3 with two rbi’s.

The Spuds’ Rafael Jackson was 1-for-4 with an rbi. Kody Clausius went 2-for-4 and drove in one run.

Casper will travel to Pierre, South Dakota, to play the Oahe Zap, on Wednesday. Fremont continues its 12-game home stand by opening a three- game series against the Nebraska Prospects, Wednesday night. First pitch is 7:05 p.m. at Historic Moller Field.
