SEWARD, Neb. – Midland University wrapped up its weekend series on Sunday at No. 17-ranked Concordia University. The Warriors, who split the doubleheader on Saturday at home, were dealt a pair of tough losses in Seward, falling the Bulldogs 10-2 in game one, and 14-4 in the finale at Plum Creek Park.
GAME ONE: Concordia 10, Midland 2
Concordia’s offense ignited in the bottom of the 1st inning, launching two home runs to claim a commanding 4-0 lead.
In the 2nd, Deven Gomez led off with a solid double. Connor Petersen was hit by a pitch and Nathaniel Reyes was walked to load the bases. The Warriors’ first run came in as Wandler drove in Gomez on a fielder’s choice, making it a 4-1 ballgame.
Following a scoreless stretch, the Bulldogs’ offense surged once more, unleashing three home runs to widen their lead to 8-1 at the bottom of the 4th. They would tack on two more in the 5th to make it a 10-1 score.
Nathaniel Reyes led off the 7th with a solo homer for the Warriors. After getting a runner to third via a single and two wild pitches, the game was closed out by the Bulldogs, 10-2.

GAME TWO: Concordia 14, Midland 4
Following a scoreless opening inning, the Bulldogs secured the lead with a solo home run to begin the 2nd.
The 3rd inning saw Nathaniel Reyes and Dax Wandler draw consecutive walks for the Warriors. Reyes capitalized on a wild pitch to score, followed by Wandler crossing home on another wild pitch, propelling Midland into the lead, 2-1.
Concordia responded in the bottom of the 3rd with another home run, knotting the score at 2-2.
In the 4th, Hadyn Crawford‘s walk opened the door for Connor Petersen‘s triple, driving Crawford home and pushing Midland ahead 3-2.
Concordia unleashed an offensive onslaught in the bottom half of the 4th, scoring six runs on four hits to seize an 8-3 lead.
After a quiet 5th inning, Crawford was hit by a pitch, followed by Deven Gomez drawing a walk. Reyes then delivered a single to left-center, bringing Crawford in to score.
The Bulldogs maintained their attack in the 6th, launching back-to-back homers and tallying six more runs from five hits.
Leading by 10 runs, Concordia held Midland scoreless in the 7th inning, invoking the run-run rule, 14-4, for the doubleheader sweep.

Midland (22-12) will step out of conference play early this coming week with a Tuesday night contest against No. 13 Bellevue (25-11). The teams will play a nine-inning game on April 9 at Moller Field in Fremont. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. between the Warriors and Bruins.
