Fifth-year pitcher Kamryn Meyer was tabbed as the TicketSmarter Summit League Softball Peak Pitcher of the Week after two stellar performances at the UNI Dome Tournament.
The Wilton, Iowa native pitched a pair of seven-inning complete games against Butler and Northern Iowa. Against Butler, Meyer only allowed one run on three hits while striking out 14 batters. Against Northern Iowa, Meyer struck out 11 batters, only allowing three hits and two runs.
Heading into the season, the fifth-year pitcher had 780 Ks under her belt. In the fourth inning of the UNI game Meyer struck out her sixth batter marking a monumental 800 career strikeouts.
Meyer’s 25 K performance this weekend boasts her to the top of the Summit League for strikeouts. Against Meyer, opponents were only hitting a .133 which is the lowest opposing batting average in the league. Of the 25 Ks, eight were struck out looking. Those eight are also good enough to top the Summit League.
Meyer and the Mavericks will meet take the road to Arizona to participate in Bear Down tournament this weekend Feb. 16-18. Omaha will first take on Long Beach State on Friday at 1 p.m.
