Lyons-Decatur Northeast Football loses to Bancroft-Rosalie

The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Football Team fell 54-42 at Bancroft-Rosalie Friday night in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull.

Jeff’s Game Recap:

Both teams scored 12 points in the 1st quarter before the Panthers won the 2nd quarter 14-10 to take a 26-22 lead into the locker room. Both teams scored 14 points in the 3rd quarter, and Bancroft-Rosalie led 40-36 at the end of three. The Panthers outscored the Cougars 14-6 in the 4th quarter. Gavin Hardeman had 248 yards rushing on 30 carries, including three touchdowns. Landen Cooper had 221 yards rushing on 21 carries and a score. Hardeman made 15 tackles while Garret Vavra had 7. Lyons-Decatur Northeast had 495 yards of total offense, 446 coming on the ground. The defense gave up 423 yards of total offense, including 277 passing.

Walthill Preview:

Lyons-Decatur Northeast (3-4) hosts Walthill (0-7) Friday night in the regular season finale. The Blujays fell 44-12 at home to Randolph last week.

Jeff’s Take on the Contest:

This should be a big win for the Cougars. A win would solidify a playoff spot for Lyons-Decatur Northeast also. It should be an exciting game and time for the Cougars, the coaches, the players, the parents, and the fans plus both communities. LDNE should be very proud of the turnaround they’ve had this year, but the job is not done yet. Win one more and get into the playoffs and who knows what happens from there.
