BISMARCK, N.D. — For the first time this season and the third time in her BU career, junior rightside hitter Kealy Kiviniemi has been named the North Star Athletic Association Attacker of the Week after leading the Bruins to a 3-0 record at last weekend’s St. Ambrose Invitational.
Kiviniemi averaged 3.45 kills per set while helping guide Bellevue to wins over No. 14 Park, Judson (Ill.), and host school, St. Ambrose. In the 3-1 win over perennial power Park, she had 15 kills and hit .324. She picked up nine kills in the sweep over JU and finished the week with 14 kills in the four-set victory over the Bees.
Kiviniemi hit .297 on the week and added four blocks.
In the latest NSAA statistics, Kiviniemi leads the league in hitting percentage (.343) and ranks fifth in kills per set (3.16).
Bellevue will travel to Sioux Center, Iowa, on Tuesday, Sept. 17, for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest at Dordt University.
