The Howells-Dodge Volleyball Team beat Wakefield 2-0 before losing 2-0 to Humphrey-Lindsay in the East Husker Conference Tournament at Humphrey-Lindsay Thursday night, and then lost 2-0 to Wisner-Pilger and West Point-Beemer at the Tournament in Oakland on Saturday.
Jeff’s Wakefield Recap:
The Jaguars won set one 25-16 and set two 31-29. Kylie Brichacek had 8 kills and 7 digs while Jade Bayer totaled 10 digs. Taylor Steffensmeier notched 7 digs and 13 set assists.
Jeff’s Humphrey-Lindsay Recap:
The Bulldogs took set one 25-17 and set two 25-21. Bayer finished with 15 digs while Steffensmeier notched 7 digs and 13 set assists.
West Point-Beemer Recap:
The Cadets won the first set 25-22 and the second set 25-14. Ava Noyd had 9 kills while Bayer and Peyten Becker posted 15 and 10 digs, respectively. Steffensmeier and Riley Svehla compiled 10 digs apiece.
Wisner-Pilger Recap:
The Gators claimed set one 25-23 and set two 25-18. Noyd had 7 kills while Bayer contributed 14 digs. Svehla chipped in 12 digs and 7 set assists while Brichacek and Becker registered 13 and 9 digs, respectively. Steffensmeier tallied 12 set assists.
Jeff’s North Bend Central Preview:
Howells-Dodge (15-12) takes on North Bend Central (19-10) on the road Tuesday night in the regular season finale. The Tigers won 2-0 over West Point-Beemer and Wisner-Pilger at the East Husker Conference Tournament in Oakland on Saturday.
Jeff’s Take on the Match:
This figures to be an interesting match for the Jaguars. Howells-Dodge is just 3-10 in their last 13 matches while North Bend Central has won 6 out of their last 7. The Tigers certainly come in playing well at the moment. Howells-Dodge needs to play well to give themselves some confidence heading into the postseason. The Jaguars are capable of performing at a high level too, they just have to go out there and do it.
