GACC picks up Statement win over Pender in High School Football on Classic Country KTIC

PENDER – It was a big District D1-2 Showdown between GACC and Pender at Heyne Field in Pender Friday night in High School Football Action aired on Classic Country KTIC.

The Bluejays led 6-0 after the 1st quarter and led 20-0 at halftime. GACC went up 28-0 in the 3rd quarter before the Pendragons scored in the 3rd quarter to make it 28-7. GACC added another fourth quarter touchdown to go up 34-7 before Pender’s Alex Roth connected with Reece Heineman on a 60-yard TD pass to make up the final score of 34-14.

The first score of the game came on a Chase Smith 20-yard run to the end zone that capped off an 8 play 52 yard drive in 4:54 for the Bluejays. The second touchdown of the game for GACC came at the 7:01 mark of the 2nd quarter as the Bluejays marched 73 yards down field in 9 plays in 4:59. Smith hauled in a TD pass from QB Sam Hass with 12 seconds to go in the 1st half to give the Bluejays their 20-0 halftime lead.

GACC added another TD in the 3rd quarter on a 5-play 65 yard drive that took 3:05. Pender’s 3rd Quarter touchdown came with 3:53 remaining in the period as the Pendragons marched 61 yards down field on 10 plays in 3:57.

Dylan Schinstock scored from 2 yards out for GACC in the 4th quarter to cap off an 11 play 46-yard drive that spanned 6:42. Heineman’s TD came with 1:45 left in the game as the Pendragons scored on 2 plays in 55 seconds.

Chase Smith had 27 carries for 127 yards rushing for the Bluejays while Hass had 10 carries for 68 yards, and Schinstock 15 carries for 56 yards. Heineman had 99 yards receiving for the Pendragons. Roth had 73 yards rushing on 8 carries for Pender. GACC had 286 yards of total offense, including 251 on the ground while Pender had 223 yards of total offense, including 143 through the air.

GACC improves to 6-0 on the year and hosts Wisner-Pilger next Friday in another big District D1-2 Showdown that will also be aired on Classic Country KTIC. Schlaebitz says the Gators are a force to be reckoned with.

Pender falls to 4-2 on the season and hosts Wakefield next Friday in the final ever regular season game at Heyne Field.
