A storm passing through Dawson County early Saturday moring left behind extensive damage in the community of Cozad. Dawson County Emergency Manager Brian Woldt says broken windows to homes and vehicles.
Cozad Community Hospital temporarily diverted paitients from emergency room to other facilities including Gothenburg Health as they conducted damage assessment. As of mid-Saturday morning, Administrator Robert Dyer said they were now accepting patients again and visitors are asked to use the east entrance. Dyer says the current patients there were not affected nor moved from their rooms.
One Cozad resident reported 2.60″ of rain.
Crops and fields were also impacted by the hail.

Emergency management reported widespread
damage across Cozad from large hail. Local
hospital has power but was damaged enough
from broken windows, water leaking in that
patients were taken to nearby hospitals. One
injury was reported, person was caught
outside in the storm, suffered bruises and
cuts, and lost consciousness.
