CCC Volleyball splits Friday Siouxland Tournament Matches

The Central Community College volleyball team split matches in the openers of the Siouxland Tournament this Friday. A brief recap of each match is below. CCC is 4-1 and will return to action tomorrow at 9:00 AM against Lake Region State College. 

Match 1 vs. Northern Iowa Area Community College

The Raiders defeated NIACC, 3-0. The final scores were 25-15, 25-13 and 25-23. The Raiders jumped on them early, winning the first 2 sets comfortably. The 3rd set saw a much closer match play out, with CCC still closing the game with a 25-23 final set. Libbie Ball accounts for 26 assists and Lauryn Scott with a team-high 8 kills.

“We started the day with a good win over a competitive NIACC Squad.” CCC head coach Mary Young said, “I thought we were effective with serving and put a lot of pressure on NIACC and we were able to control the game.”

Match 2 vs. Northeastern Oklahoma A&M

The Raiders were given their first loss of the season by Northwestern Oklahoma A&M in 3 sets, 25-21, 25-23, and 25-21. All 3 matches were close battles, with the Blazers pulling away late. 

Lauryn Scott led the team with 10 kills and Libbie Ball tallied 31 assists. Ali Miller and Liv Swanson accounted for 12 digs a piece and Marin Reilly and Maleigha Johnson with a team-high 13 digs a piece.

“Northeastern Oklahoma was a solid matchup and We let some opportunities slip away from us.” Head coach Mary Young said, “despite the loss, it was a great learning opportunity for our team to learn, improve and we will definitely bounce back from it.”

Raiders volleyball moves to 4-1 on the season.
