The Charger football team fell 63-13 on Memorial Field Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers turned the ball over in their own territory on the opening drive, and the Bulldogs capitalized with a three-yard touchdown pass from DJ McGarvie to Daylan Russell.
Trailing 7-0, the Chargers marched down the field, using a nine-play 75-yard drive capped off with a one-yard rushing plunge from Matthew Mason. Jacob Schroder’s PAT attempt was blocked as CUNE held on to a 7-6 lead.
A muffed punt by the Chargers to open the second quarter resulted in the Bulldogs taking over in Charger territory and they quickly went up 14-6.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Gavin Dobson checked in at quarterback and led The Cliff to a 11-play 59-yard drive capped off with a three-yard rushing touchdown.
Brock Saya went 11-for-22 for 125 yards passing in the contest. Mason rushed for 51 yards on 16 carries. Kyle St. Pierre hauled in two catches for 37 yards including a 32-yard reception in the contest.
Brett Tinker recorded 10 tackles while Brayden Pommier-Williams recorded nine tackles.
The Chargers will have a bye next Saturday, before returning to action the following Saturday as they prepare for the Lancers of Mount Marty for homecoming. Homecoming kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
