The 56th edition of the Days of ’56 Rodeo is happening this Friday and Saturday, June 28th and 29th, in Ponca, Nebraska.
Performances will be at 7pm nightly, with special events such as the critter scramble and the fan favorite “arena race.” All of the traditional rodeo events will be represented, with stock provided by Championship Pro Rodeo.
The Days of ’56 rodeo committee is strong in numbers and in history. The 26 person board has some individuals who are third, fourth, and fifth generation rodeo volunteers.
Committeewoman Liz Heimes says the rodeo means a great deal to the community of Ponca.
“Our town booms,” Heimes said. “The rodeo breathes life into our little community.”
