Evelyn Mae (Johnson) Schlueter, age 88 of Hooper, NE passed away September 29, 2023, in the Methodist Hospital in Fremont, NE.

Evelyn was born March 17, 1935, in Stuart, NE to Max and Bessie (Skrdla) Weichman. She grew up in Stuart attending and graduating from the Boniface Catholic Grade School. She attended Stuart High School and graduated in 1953. She married Marvin (Red) Johnson November 14, 1953, and he preceded her in death 1991.

She was a stay-at-home mom raising (6) children. In 1974 Evelyn started cooking at District 88 country school and was there for 18 years. When the school closed, she started working at Fremont Hospital and Merrick Manor. She retired from the hospital after 10 years of service and started cleaning at the Hooper Post Office. Where she was employed for 11 years.

In 1999 she married Patrick Schlueter of Hooper, NE. Patrick preceded her in death in 2002.

Evelyn was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper, a member of the UMW and loved to listen to country music.

Survivors are: son Neal (Carol) Johnson of Hooper, NE, daughter Sandra(Jeff)Hanson of Cedar Bluffs, NE, son Gary (Lesa)Johnson of Lincoln, NE, son Terry(Lori) Johnson of Ashland, NE daughter Janet (Kevin) Hula of Fremont, NE, stepson David Schlueter of Alamo, TX, stepdaughter Peggy (Larry) Krause of Wood River, NE, brother Donald (Donna) Weichman of Fremont, NE, sister Kay (Al ) Wayland of Burley, Idaho and 42 grandchildren, great grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands Marvin Johnson and Patrick Schlueter, son and daughter-in-law Rod and Amy Johnson and grandchildren Allysa, Sheldon and Mariah Johnson and grandson Seth Johnson.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.

There will be no viewing, but the family will be present on Friday, October 6, from 5pm to 7pm at the Hooper Funeral Chapel in Hooper, NE. The memorial service will be held on 10:00am, Saturday, October 7, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, NE. Burial will follow in Hooper Cemetery. Online guestbook at www.Ludvigsenmortuary.com
