Elizabeth “Liz” Bliemeister age 97 of West Point

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth “Liz” Bliemeister age 97 of West Point, NE will be on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, NE.  A luncheon will follow mass at the Nielsen Community Center. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, with a Vigil Service and Rosary at 4:00 p.m., and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.  The family suggests that memorials be directed to the GACC Endowment, The Sunshine Senior Center or the John A. Stahl Library in West Point, NE.

Liz passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point, NE.

Liz was born on Sept. 15, 1926 to Henry C. and Anna (Fischer) Schinstock. She was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and graduated from Guardian Angels High School in 1944. All of her children and grandchildren graduated from Guardian Angels/Central Catholic as well. This would have been Liz’s 80th high school alumni reunion.

On May 18, 1948 Liz married William “Bill” Bliemeister Jr. at St. Mary’s in West Point. She began working at the Cuming County Treasurer’s Office and remained there until 1959 when Bill and Liz went into business for themselves establishing Bill’s Standard Service. In 1972 they moved their business across the street and started Bliemeister Auto Repair with their sons. Liz served as the bookkeeper and worked side by side with Bill and was highly involved with all facets of the business.

Their retirement years were spent between their homes in Arizona and Nebraska. Liz and Bill loved their winters in Arizona and summers at the lake where they made many life-long friends and memories.

Liz enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing, travel, and spending time with friends and family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was rarely a family gathering that Liz didn’t bring her famous chocolate roll and deviled eggs.

Liz is survived by her children, John (Connie) Bliemeister, Gary (Maurine) Bliemeister, Diana (Mark) Iden, and Joyce Prinz. 11 grandchildren and their spouses. Jeff (Roni) Bliemeister, Chris (Lana) Bliemeister, Jamie (John) Griffin, Melissa (James) Walsh, Tyler (Amy) Bliemeister, Lindsey (John) Stearn, Ashley (Nathan) McKown, Jordan (Mackenzie) Iden, Amanda (Adam) Schueth, Jeremy (Samantha) Prinz, Dustin (Norma Barragan) Prinz and 23 great grandchildren, Kaelee, Ellie, William, Addison, Caden, Cael, Brody, Talia, Rylee, McKenna, Clara, Carter, Ava, River, Finley, Jacob, Jaxton, Jett, Cache, Cooper, Rydon, Fiona and Lilly.

Liz is preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2011, son-in-law, David Prinz, twin granddaughters of John and Connie Bliemeister and great grandson Charlie Stearn, parents Henry and Anna Schinstock; parents-in-laws William and Josephine Bliemeister; brothers, Frances and Wilfred Schinstock and many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
