Nebraska offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield met with members of the media following Tuesday’s spring practice.
Tuesday marked the 13th of 15 total spring practices with the Spring Game set for Saturday. Satterfield discussed his hopes for the final week of spring practice.
“Keep cleaning the football up,” he said. “We came into it saying we want to play clean football, a good brand of football. Physicality, toughness, taking care of the football, lining up correctly, knowing our assignments, just playing clean football so that is the goal this week. By the end of this week, just to clean some loose ends up and to go out there Saturday and be able to relax, enjoy the environment and play.”
Satterfield also recapped last Saturday’s scrimmage.
“It started out pretty good,” he said. “It is like everything else, we are trying to eliminate the highs and the lows. We had some highs and we had some lows so we have to start to eliminate the lows and get it more to a consistent measure.”
Satterfield talked about how players are handling the installation of a new offense.
“We throw a lot on them,” he said. “That was the plan, to throw a lot of stuff at these guys, see what they can handle, force them to take notes, learn a lot of stuff on their own with their peers at night and then come in here for meetings and pick up where they leave off. We do a lot of stuff, and we are anxious to show what we have on Saturday.”
Satterfield also discussed the challenges of playing against defensive coordinator Tony White’s defense.
“I can’t imagine playing another team that is like the looks we have gotten so far,” Satterfield said. “It is a very disruptive defense. I am glad he’s on our team. I would hate to have to game plan against that in the season.
“We have gotten to see a lot of things which I think is good, just the multiple fronts and the pressures and coverages. They have brought it all at us, and I think in the long run it is going to be very good for us.”
