The Wahoo Saddle Club PRCA Rodeo took place last week in Wahoo, Nebraska. Amongst the excitement of professional rodeo action, the Thundering Hooves Drill Team made their debut.

Team lead HalLee Linner was inspired to start the group because of her previous experience on a drill team with her late brother, Thunder. Linner thought of the team as a way to honor her brother’s legacy and create opportunities for others to be a part of a close-knit group.

With the help of Tiffany Glasshoff, KaCey Johnson, and Kate Peterson, the group was able to start from scratch and put together powerful performances for rodeo fans during all three nights of the rodeo in Wahoo.

The team is comprised of individuals from across the state of Nebraska. While most drill teams practice weekly, the Thundering Hooves Drill Team met on more of a monthly basis. In fact, the team was able to assemble their routine with only ten practices under their belt before their debut.

As she remembers her brother Thunder, Linner says watching the team come together has been a heartwarming experience.

“It almost makes me cry every time we practice and especially after performances,” said Linner. “It is heartwarming that the team is so supportive of the name and what it stands for for me.”

Looking ahead, Linner hopes to expand the reach of the team by performing at more rodeos throughout the year. Tryouts for next year’s team are slated for October, and more information on that front will be posted to the Thundering Hooves Drill Team Facebook page.
