Nebraska’s Governor is taking issue with the Biden American Infrastructure Plan, saying it’s not really a true infrastructure program.
During his weekly news conference with reporters in Lincoln Monday, Pete Ricketts said the actual percentage of the overall spending proposed by the Biden Administration really isn’t that large considering it’s a plan of more than $2 trillion.
“If you look at Biden’s infrastructure plan, only about five percent actually goes to roads and bridges. And if you wanted to get more expansive in how you define infrastructure, and include things such as mass transit and the $80 billion in a bailout of Amtrak, even if you included that, you’re talking about 16 percent of the program is real infrastructure,” said Ricketts. “The rest is a lot of the other programs Democrats are trying to get funded through for other sorts of things, but it’s not infrastructure.”
The Governor also took issue with the rating of Nebraska’s infrastructure given by Biden Administration officials as a C-minus.
Ricketts says the state has received high marks from organizations such as The Reason Foundation, which most recently ranked Nebraska infrastructure as 12th best in the country.
