The Overton FFA Chapter is taking part in the ‘There’s a Pig in My Classroom‘ program through the National FFA Organization.

The National FFA Organization teamed up with Zoetis, the Indiana State Fair and the LEAP Foundation for this agricultural literacy project that introduces swine production to students.

“Since pigs are raised in confinement, it’s not as obvious that you might be going past a pig farm as it is a cattle operation,” said Julie Loudon, Overton FFA advisor.

The program allows students in grades 3-5 to learn about swine production, biosecurity and more, and culminates with a virtual field trip to Fair Oaks Farm Pig Adventure.

Cinch Kiger, a senior Overton FFA member, said he hopes to teach the students how swine operations work and show them where their food comes from.
