College athelets from farm and ranch backgrounds have the chance to receive unique support from a new initiative.

Tractor Tuesday, an online auction platform for agricultural machinery, announced the launch of Farm Athletes which will provide student-athletes with rural roots NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals.

Farm Athletes seeks to create opportunities for athletes from rural communities, acknowledging the unique challenges they face in balancing sports, academics, and their ties to agriculture.

The sponsorship will fund NIL deals for selected athletes, offering financial compensation along with opportunities for personal branding, marketing partnerships, and community engagement

Jordan Carstens, a former Iowa State University walk-on and NFL player who grew up on a farm, has endorsed the initiative.

“Agriculture and athletics share many common values, and it’s important to highlight the stories of these student-athletes,” said Carstens. “Programs like Farm Athletes give young people from farm backgrounds a chance to succeed, and it’s great to see ag companies stepping up to support them.”

Farm Athletes is currently accepting applications from NCAA athletes with a connection to agriculture.

The selection process will focus on athletic performance, academic achievement, and a demonstrated commitment to farming or ranching. For more information, visit the Farm Athletes website.
