On Thursday, August 17, 2023, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at two veterinary clinics in Gage County, resulting in the seizure of 33 horses and the issuance of criminal citations.

Deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with an investigator/state deputy sheriff from the Nebraska Brand Committee, carried out the search warrant at the Blue Valley Veterinary Clinic in Beatrice and the Pickrell Veterinary Clinic in Pickrell. The operation took place at approximately 2:30 pm.

The joint operation followed a weeks-long investigation into allegations of livestock neglect. As a result of the search warrant, a total of 33 horses were seized, with four of them being taken from the Pickrell location. The animals were subsequently transported to a nearby facility for immediate care and treatment.

Authorities took action against 38-year-old Jennafer Glaesemann of Beatrice, issuing her a criminal citation for a staggering 37 counts of livestock neglect.

In light of the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings, the custody and control of the horses have been revoked from Jennafer Glaesemann. The horses will remain under the care of designated facilities pending a court hearing to determine their ultimate fate.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska Brand Committee have not released further details about the specific conditions of the horses or the nature of the neglect allegations.
