K-State extension is gearing up to host the Northwest Kansas Sheep and Goat Management Meeting held on April 20 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Norton County 4-H Building in Norton, Kansas.

The K-State Research and Extension units in Twin Creeks District and Phillips-Rooks District are partnering to bring Sheep & Meat Goat Specialist, Dr. Alison Crane, to the area.  Dr. Crane along with local Extension Agents, Rachael Boyle and Alyssa Rippe-May, will cover health topics such as vaccinations and preparing for lambing and kidding.  Additional topics will include co-grazing considerations for small ruminants and cattle and assessing and managing nutritional needs throughout the sheep and goat production cycle.  Attendees can join in-person with masks and social distancing or online via Zoom.

K-State extension asks that attendees register by April 16 by calling the Phillips-Rooks District Extension Office at 785-425-6851 or Twin Creeks District Extension Office at 785-475-8121.  A meal will be offered to in-person participants thanks to our sponsors, Alma Livestock Auction and Colby Livestock Auction.

Extension Agent Alyssa Rippe-May talks with Clay Patton about the upcoming meeting.
