Brutally cold: Wind Chill Warning until February 16

A Wind Chill Warning is in effect for the entire outlook area.

Dangerously cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 30 below zero to 40 below zero are forecast. The coldest wind chill values are expected this morning, then again this evening through Tuesday morning. While a bit of improvement is forecast this afternoon, wind chills will still be in the 15 below zero to 25 below zero range.

* WHERE…Portions of north-central Kansas and central, east

  central and south-central Nebraska.

* WHEN…Through noon CST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Avoid outside activities if possible. When outside, make sure you wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
