Plans to create 300 new jobs in Sidney halted by MMP Enterprises

A Canadian-based logistics and supply chain company has called off plans announced earlier this year to expand operations in Sidney.

Sidney Economic Development Director Melissa Norgard confirms that a $27 million expansion plan announced by MMP Enterprises in January that would have added 300 jobs to the community is now off.

A call to company President Mark Premier by KNEB News has yet to be returned, however Nebraska Rural Radio Association affiliate station KSID is reporting Premier sent a letter to current Sidney employees, saying the Toronto-based company underestimated the rate of growth in Canada, which currently needs their full attention and for now, all employment will cease at the Nebraska office until further notice.

Norgard tells KNEB News it’s always disappointing when a project falls through, but her office will continue to seek new business tenants willing to locate to or expand operations in the Cheyenne County community.
