Nielsen Community Center is Temporary Shelter for Residents

The Nielsen Community Center in West Point had been set up as an emergency shelter for West Point residents without power.

Here is information from Cuming County Emergency Manager Jeff McGill:

Due to the ice storm, the Nielsen Community Center will be open for households without power, to gather temporarily until further notice. Due to Covid, we will require masks worn at all times unless eating. Food and beverage not provided so please bring your own. Bring something to keep your family occupied for the duration of your time here. Check in at the South entrance in the Foyer. No pets please.
