Pekarek’s Produce near Dwight, Nebraska, is busy 12 months out of the year.

Owner Ryan Pekarek said right now, he’s focused on growing cool season vegetables like radishes, peas and carrots.

He’s also proactive about weed control this time of year. He said he uses Christmas herbicide – hoe, hoe, hoe.

Pekarek’s Produce is one of the region’s well-known produce farms with one heated greenhouse, five unheated greenhouses and 15 acres of vegetable and fruit crops. Ryan and his wife, Katie, with the help of their children and local employees, grow about 30 fruits and vegetables year round.
