Lincoln County 911 Center received a disturbance report on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 11:30pm from a resident at Lake Maloney.

The homeowner reported two injured and intoxicated teens came to his door saying they had driven their vehicle into the Nebraska Public Power District canal somewhere near the outlet camping area. The male and female teens left the residence once they found law enforcement had been called.

Deputies searched the area all night but were unable to find the vehicle or the teens.

During the morning hours of Thursday, June 30th, with assistance from NE Game and Parks officers and the Lincoln county Dive Team, the vehicle was located in the canal completely submerged, 200 yards north of the North Maloney Drive at Lake Maloney. The vehicle was removed and towed away.

The teens, who sustained minor injuries, were located. The female driver will be issued a citation for various violations. The sheriff’s office says alcohol was a clear factor in the accident.
