Train derailed west of Exeter

EXETER – A BNSF train derailed near Exeter shortly before 11 a.m. Friday. Nebraska State Patrol, and officials with BNSF were on the scene into the afternoon.

The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office said a fertilizer truck was crossing the tracks when it was hit by the westbound train. One person in the train was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No injuries were reported within the truck.

Crews were at the crash area Friday afternoon, and clean up is expected to last several days.
